For many years, I was a middle manager. I watched pressure rise year after year, while expectations kept increasing and resources kept shrinking.

At the same time, organizations became more political.

Decisions were made that leaders did not fully understand, yet we were expected to implement them flawlessly.
We were told to prioritize, but when we asked what to deprioritize, the answer was often the same:
everything still had to get done. I watched capable, committed leaders slowly exhaust themselves in a system that rewarded overextension instead of sustainability.

For a time, I was on that path too. But instead of burning out, I chose a different approach. I learned how to set boundaries without losing credibility, how to push back without damaging trust, how to create clarity in the middle of chaos, and how to protect my energy while still delivering results.
